People are invited to share their visions for Waynesville with planners September 20, between 10:00 and 2:00, at the Waynesville campus of Haywood Community College. I won’t be there. Like Stevie Nicks, I keep my visions to myself. Besides, if the planners had always been around, dinosaurs would still walk the earth, and magnetic pole reversals could be controlled.
Furthermore, I hate planning charettes. If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all, and I’ve seen too many for one life. I recently told the publisher of a newspaper I didn’t want to go to another one if I could help it.
But wait! There is something new here. People want roundabouts, zero setbacks, buffering, no boxy buildings, narrower roads, and bike lanes . . . on the way to Wal*Mart??????
