Now that filing records are official, I’ve had to revise the number of de facto winners in the N.C. General Assembly from 39 to 32. These are candidates who filed for House and Senate, and because no one filed against them, they are shoo-ins for their respective seats.

One interesting factoid: 29 of the 32 seats are occupied by incumbents. It’s less surprising that an incumbent wouldn’t face a challenge. But three seats — districts 11, 75, and 106 — were open seats either due to redistricting or retirements. Democrat Duane Hall is the lone candidate in district 11, Republican Donny Lambeth is the loner in district 75, and Democrat Carla Cunningham is the loner in 106.

Lambeth is chair of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Board. Google turned up no good information prospects on Cunningham or Hall.

I guess Lambeth can take down his campaign website now.
