U.S. Supreme Court ruling should kill N.C. taxpayer-financed election campaign program

This week’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling striking down the “matching-funds” provision of Arizona’s taxpayer-financed election campaign system should have implications for North Carolina. The Tar Heel State uses the same type of unconstitutional matching-funds provision for its own taxpayer-financed campaign program. Daren Bakst, John Locke Foundation Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies, discussed the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling for North Carolina during an interview with the N.C.
