Manufacturing is alive and well, but the UAW is still trying to kill it. The union went on strike at 11 AM over job security. Nobody has indicated how GM can guarantee jobs if the company becomes more efficient but sells fewer vehicles.

A wire report stated, “The union has indicated a willingness to agree to a cost-saving fund for health care and lower wages for new hires, but has insisted it needs job-security provisions in return.” The health care plan is a voluntary employee beneficiary association (VEBA) like Goodyear and the United Steel Workers union agreed in their contract negotiations.
