The news is out that UN meteorologists predict global temperatures will be cooler in 2008:

If the forecast holds true, global temperatures will not have risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.

What’s been the reaction of those whose careers are invested in the global warming hoax? World Meteorological Organisation’s secretary-general Michel Jarraud says data and facts don’t matter when it’s getting colder:

“When you look at climate change you should not look at any particular year,” he told the BBC. “You should look at trends over a pretty long period and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming.”

This sounds a lot like Durham’s leaders’ recent reaction to our full reservoirs:

City leaders worry that recent rains and relaxed restrictions will take residents out of conservation mode.

Yes, God forbid that we start flushing our toilets after every use again. We know how devastating that was for, oh, 100 years. Maybe we should never have quit saving scrap iron after World War II. You never know when you might need it. Sadly, the government-knows-best notion has taken root. Check out this plea for less freedom (emphasis added):

But Rebecca Wellborn, co-owner of Meadowsweet Gardens, which installed Solow’s garden, said she worries that conservation fervor will fade without government involvement.

UPDATE: In Canada they’re getting downright violent over …. global cooling.
