The nation’s highest-paid intern, the wife of the Democrat governor, now has the blessing of a phalanx of Democrat appointees.

In a July interview with WRAL News, Gov. Mike Easley said he thinks the salary fits the job and praised his wife’s decision to take on new responsibilities at N.C. State.

“She could go out with a law firm and make a lot more money, but she’s decided to stay with public service,” Mike Easley said.
