Last fall the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Student Congress tried to pull a fast one by using a technicality to freeze funds allotted to the College Republicans that would have helped fund a speech on campus by conservative humorist Ben Stein. It ended well, however ? and that continues to be a good thing for the university, because now it uses a student’s happy memories of the event (as part of her happy memories on campus) in its recruitment.
