Stick a fork in the Niners — they are done. An NCAA bid was there for the taking, but losing 5 of 6 games has put that out of reach. Now it is down to trying to steal a win against a good Richmond team Saturday and then winning a game in the A10 tourney and hope for an NIT bid.
Similar deal for the Heels, who will probably lose at dook and then need an ACC tourney win in Greensboro to get a place at the junior high dance. And some in Chapel Hill are already wondering about hosting an NIT game in Carmichael Auditorium as a way to turn a bad season into something at least novel.
But a true blast from the past would be UNCC hosting UNC at the Old Old Coliseum.
