Word out of UNC-Wilmington is that the College Republicans have been officially derecognized by the university because the student group’s constitution doesn’t include the university mandated non-discrimination clause. As that includes political affiliation, including the clause would mean the College Republicans could not prevent Democrats from joining ? which also means the Republicans could not prevent Democrats from joining en masse and taking over. Apparently UNCW is oblivious to the First Amendment’s protection of freedom of association.
By virtue of being derecognized, the CRs have lost access to university facilities and their funds have been frozen.
