Unfortunately, there’s more terrible economic news for North Carolina. In fact, ESC data for January shows that North Carolina’s unemployment rate increased in 99 out of 100 counties.
In the Triangle — typically the most economically dynamic and robust area of the state — unemployment hit record levels in January in both Wake and Durham counties. In Orange, the numbers were bad as well.
Wake — 9.2 percent
Durham — 8.6 percent
Orange — 6.9 percent
