I’ve always thought that Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” would be a great intro for an athletic team. Beats the song the band used to play over and over (not as an intro, but still) at every UNC basketball and football game: “Gimme Some Lovin'”
I think “Welcome to the Jungle” has lost its inspirational ability simply because it is so overplayed.
A few years ago learned from a band director friend why college and high school bands usually play the same old songs at sports events. It takes a lot of money to buy new sheet music, and a lot of time to arrange a rock song for a school band.
