Increasingly, colleges and universities are getting into the charter school business.
Washington University is working with KIPP to establish five new charter schools in St. Louis. As mentioned in the article, Stanford University, the University Chicago, and a number of other large universities already partner with organizations that run charter schools.
Currently, such partnerships are virtually non-existent in North Carolina. I pave the path to the promised land here.
