That’s what the front page of today’s shouted out after higher than normal amounts of lead were found in the drinking water at West Davidson High School. (OK, I added the exclamation point.)

The story turned out not to be so exciting, however. While tests determined that the water was indeed technically unsafe for consumption, nobody at West Davidson seemed all that worked up over the situation:

In a statement issued this morning, Meredith Palmer, public information director for Davidson County Schools, said neither students nor parents have contacted West Davidson Principal Kate Gentry with any questions or concerns about the water situation. She added that safe drinking water has been provided via portable water coolers located throughout the school near regular water coolers, which have been turned off. Bottled water also has been made available.

I guess it’s situations like these that should make us thankful for soda machines in schools.
