World Net Daily reported today that Scholastic (the people who brought you book fairs and Weekly Reader in school) and Nickelodeon TV (the people who brought you … well …slime) have completed their straw polls of school-aged kids, with very different results:

Kids who read books in school: Bush 52%, Kerry 47%

Kids who watch stuff on cable: Kerry 57%, Bush 43%

I suppose since the Nickelodeon poll was done online the kids could experiment voting multiple times, just like some grown-ups try.

Meanwhile in Smithfield, students rejected liberal wieners in two areas — selecting Ballantine, Snyder, Burr, and Creech in the state races and Carolina Packers “Bright Leaf” hot dogs over competing flavors (The Smithfield Herald, 10/19/04, page one).
