Up to 170 groups to apply for charters

According to the NC Department of Public Instruction, the Office of Charter School (OCS) has received 170 Letters of Intent to apply to open a charter school.

While not all 170 groups will submit an application for review, it indicates that interest in expanding the charter school sector remains strong.  Earlier this year, OCS received 161 Letters of Intent.
