Montgomery is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of two CMPD police officers. Montgomery is a repeat violent offender who has only received probation or parole for previous conviections, along with a few months of jail time.

A conviction for resisting an officer and assault on an officer in September 1999 resulted in probation in February 2000 and it appears no jail time at all, possibly because Montgomery was not yet 18 at the time of the incident.

He was convicted of assault on a female in August 2004. He spent a little over a month in jail, one of several brief stays in the Mecklenburg County jail that year.

In February 2005 he was arrested for a probation violation. He spent almost three months in jail as a result. Montgomery was also arrested January 2006 for resisting an officer and open container violation. He spent two days in jail.

It would be interesting to scrub arrest records nationwide between 2000 and 2004 to find out if Montgomery was in trouble in some other jurisdictions during that time.

It would not exactly be a surprise.
