Last week, Paul Chesser’s love for the Boston Red Sox was on display in the Raleigh New & Observer. On Monday, he turned his team’s come-from-behind league championship win over the New York Yankees into a piece for the online Weekly Standard. Chesser used the Yankees as a humorous and pointed analogy for the failures of big government. First, he wrote, the Yankees and government believe money solves problems. Second, both keep hiring, regardless of low return on investment. Third, both keep people who are uninspired and have no incentive to perform.
