Former Gov. Mike Easley’s recent felony guilty plea continues to generate attention for Carolina Journal‘s work. Executive Editor Don Carrington discusses the case this evening on News 14 Carolina’s “Political Connections.” The Lincoln Tribune and Tar Heel Tribune picked up Carrington’s article confirming that federal investigators launched their probe into Easley’s record after CJ started detailing the governor’s questionable behavior. A Salisbury Post editorial cited that same article. Jack Betts’ column in the Charlotte Observer and News & Observer listed Carolina Journal first among the publications that led the way in uncovering Easley’s dubious dealings. An Associated Press report cited CJ while discussing Easley’s $71,000 annual state pension. The Lincoln Tribune also published Associate Editor David Bassexclusive about the resolution of the Easley investigation.
