Dr. Troy Kickler, Director of the North Carolina History
Project, will have three pieces published in the near future. 
Publisher Marshall Cavendish of Exploring American History: From Colonial Times to 1877
has asked Kicker to write an encyclopedia entry for Sojourner Truth and
Uncle Tom’s Cabin.  Kicker will examine the public and
private life of Truth and will discuss Uncle Tom’s Cabin, its
impact, and significance–especially the Southern reaction to it. In
its forthcoming 2006 issue, Tennessee Baptist History will
publish Kickler’s graduate school essay: “Black Baptists in
Reconstruction Tennessee.”  In this essay, Kickler disagrees with
scholars who, in their quest to demonstrate the agency of
African-Americans during Reconstruction, overlook blacks’ continuing
ties to the white community.  In response to the recent decision
