Callers to Matt Mittan’s “Take a Stand” program on Asheville’s WWNC Radio raised questions this week about the latest increase in the state gas tax. JLF communications director Mitch Kokai joined Mittan to clarify some details of the tax’s history, from the 1986 law that created a variable gas tax rate to the 2006 political debate that led to a gas tax cap.
