Both the News & Observer and Charlotte Observer quoted John Locke Foundation President John Hood in an article about the federal suit challenging North Carolina’s new election law. A column in the Butner-Creedmoor News from Granville County’s public school superintendent responded to Hood’s recent commentary on the state’s “real” school report card. (I don’t often agree with Mr. Hood, but his column on NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) testing gave me the opportunity I sought to comment in an informational and meaningful fashion. … Mr. Hood is spot on with his commentary on the discrepancies between the tests and on the concern the State Board of Education and the Department of Public Instruction has demonstrated over the last year’s results.)

N.C. Senate Republicans promoted in their daily press emails Hood’s columns on research-based public policy, government’s role in preventing correction of mistakes, and moral superiority.
