WPTF Radio’s Bill LuMaye hosted Kevin Gutzman for more than an hour this week, shortly after Gutzman delivered a North Carolina History Project lecture in Raleigh. Gutzman is an associate professor of American history and author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution. Gutzman’s appearance in Raleigh followed the tour of another scholar appearing in North Carolina in conjunction with the N.C. History Project. Larry Schweikart, author of A Patriot’s History of The United States, lectured across the state in a tour co-sponsored by NCHP and Hillsdale College. The tour took him to History Project director Troy Kickler’s class at North Carolina State University, along with stops at Campbell University, Catawba College, and UNC-Wilmington. Organizers estimate that Schweikart spoke to more than 360 people. Kickler has been busy with recent book entries. His article on “Tennessee” is slated to appear in the book Old West: Yesterday and Today later this year. Readers of the Marshall Cavendish series Exploring American History: From Colonial Times to 1877 can see more than a half dozen entries from Kickler on topics such as “James K. Polk,” “Reconstruction,” and the “Women’s rights movement.”
