The John Locke Foundation launched its latest round of Freedom Club meetings with a presentation in Raleigh featuring Education Policy Analyst Terry Stoops. Stoops offered up-to-date facts and figures on the highs and lows of the state’s public education establishment. Stoops’ recent school board candidates’ checklist also attracted attention this week from the News & Observer‘s “WakeEd” blog. Speaking of candidates’ checklists, communications director Mitch Kokai addressed that topic during an interview Wednesday with Curtis Wright of WLTT Radio. John Hood also discussed Wake school board elections in an interview with the WPTF Radio news department, and he joined Curtis Media Group owner Don Curtis for a wide-ranging political discussion to be broadcast this weekend on WPTF and WSJS Radio. Meanwhile, Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor logged radio time this week with Tara Servatius on WBT. They discussed streetcars. (The Charlotte Observer also quoted Taylor this week in an article about the surprise performance of a Tea Party organizer in the Republican city council primary.) Also spending time on the road this week was N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler, who presented a pair of lectures on constitutional issues at Fayetteville Technical Community College. A Yes! Weekly article this week also made brief mention of Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray‘s recent presentation in Greensboro on taxpayer-financed elections. Gray continued to spend time on the road this week. She offered a legislative update to the Guilford County Republican Men’s Club and Guilford GOP executive board Monday, spoke with Hickory-area Freedom Club members and a Mitchell County FreedomWorks group Tuesday, and lunched with Freedom Club members in Winston-Salem Wednesday. Gray will speak at a Constitution Celebration Saturday in Lenoir.
