North Carolina should scrap its corporate income tax, according to a recent John Locke Foundation Spotlight report. The Heartland Institute took notice of that recommendation and interviewed Roy Cordato, JLF Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar, for a Budget & Tax News podcast. A National Legal and Policy Center commentary on sustainability quotes Cordato extensively. The Richmond County Daily Journal published Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson‘s recent column labeling President Obama the “second-guesser in chief.” The Kernersville News picked up CJ Associate Editor David Bass‘ column about economic woes for the millennial generation. The News & Observer printed JLF Senior Fellow Marc Rotterman‘s column on former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich‘s presidential aspirations. Speaking of Gingrich, MSNBC.com mentioned the Locke Foundation in a story detailing the former House speaker’s finances. The story referenced Gingrich’s speaking fee for his 2010 appearance at the JLF 20th anniversary banquet. A column in the Hendersonville Times-News referenced JLF research into long-term care financing. N.C. History Project Director Troy Kickler reports that the New York University Press has released the book Children and Youth During the Civil War Era. That book features Kickler’s chapter, “Caught in the crossfire: African American children and the ideological battle for education in Reconstruction.” The N.C. Center for Voter Education’s VoterRadio.com is featuring video of last week’s N.C. History Project living history debate featuring former presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.
