As we correctly predicted would happen several weeks ago, Charlotte’s ozone season is being portrayed as “worse” without reference to the tighter standard for ozone adopted for this season.

Uptown paper of record environmental activist/reporter Bruce Henderson is responsible for this wholly misleading squib and graphic. It attempts to show that we are having more Code Orange/Red days this year than before, but does not mention that the standard for “dangerous ozone” was lowered by the feds in the spring.

As it is inconceivable that Henderson is unaware of this well-known change, this must be an intentional approach. No doubt the thinking is that it does not matter that the standard was changed from 85 parts per million to 75 parts per million, Orange is Orange, Red is Red.

Wonder what readers think about this. The paper still has them, right?
