A waitress at the Champions Sports Bar in the Marriott Uptown was stabbed in the neck by a homeless man Sunday evening. The victim is expected to recover, but DeMarcus Lamont Brodie is in jail on felony charges of assault with intent to kill.

Would this be Brodie’s first run-in with the law? No. Of course not. In 2005 he was arrested on misdemeanor assault charges.

And back in July 2000 Brodie was convicted of six counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon in Cumberland County. He was sentenced to probation.

Here’s a question: Suppose the exact same attack happens somewhere off of Wilkinson Blvd. Would that be a felony with a $200,000 bond?
