Canada is the freest economy in North America according to the Heritage Foundation’s Index of Economic Freedom. The United States no longer meets the Index’s definition of “economically free.”

Report author Terry Miller, in the Wall Street Journal, writes: “Scores declined in seven of the 10 categories of economic freedom. Losses were particularly significant in the areas of financial and monetary freedom and property rights.”

On the bright side, it just became a little harder for economic freedom to erode further.
