The Tarboro Daily Southerner reported on schools using a business model developed by Malcolm Baldridge to encourage more students’ involvement in their education.? But I’m puzzled by this comment, quoted without elaboration in the Associated Press version of the story:

“At first I thought a business model had nothing to do with teaching a 12 year old how to read, but now I know it’s all about teaching a 12 year old how to read,” [the principal] said. “After listening to experienced teachers and administrators talk about how it works, I believe that this is the one thing to push us to excellence.”

Twelve-year-olds?
