North Carolina is east and a bit north of Texas, right? So say most maps, but according to the U.S. Postal Service, the fast path from the Dallas area to Charlotte begins by heading northwest, all the way to the Seattle area.

The specifics: Got a small packet in the mail on Saturday. It shipping out of Midlothian, TX on Tuesday. Per U.S. Postal Service’s tracking, the letter went through Fort Worth and then next shows up in… Federal Way, WA late on Wednesday and then Kent, WA on Thursday before getting into Charlotte late on Friday. Is it any wonder why the post office keeps losing so much money?
