Robert Novak has some great news in his latest syndicated column for the Chicago Sun Times. It seems that Rep. Jim DeMint, who is preparing a bid for Fritz Hollings’ Senate seat down in South Carolina, is filing his usual legislation for private Social Security accounts. What’s interesting is that his cosponsor is reported to be Demoratic Rep. Harold Ford of Tennessee — the one who ran against Nancy Pelosi for the top Democratic post in the House saying that she was too unimaginative and not representative of the broader Democratic Party. Very interesting development on multiple levels, if it pans out.
