The Winston-Salem Journal’s Scott Sexton addresses Sen. Richard Burr’s “contorversial” amendment to a “noncontroversial” bill.

Basically what it boils down to is veterans who have fiduciaries assigned to them to handle money matters are entered in the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System. In other words, if you’re veteran, money problems mean you’re unstable, which in turn means you shouldn’t own a gun.

Burr’s amendment to a veterans’ bill would stop that requirement, which, surprise, upsets gun control advocates.
