Jeff ? good catch on the widescreen VHS. Last I checked, which admittedly has been a while, I could have ordered the widescreen VHS only from Amazon UK. I have been on the DVD waiting list for some time, of course. I don’t want to settle for an analog alternative if there’s still hopes of a digital treasure ? especially at the cost of three double sawbucks. My hope was that Branagh’s company would bring another work of Shakespeare to the big screen, which would presumably increase interest in their Hamlet as well their Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing and Othello. I haven’t checked recently to see if anything is in the works.

Maybe they could branch out and film Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus ? I bet they would present a much prettier Helen on screen than was given us in Troy. Not that the actress who portrayed Helen, Diane Kruger, is ugly (she isn’t), but upon seeing her I could no longer suspend disbelief. “Was this the face that launch’d a thousand ships?” Branagh’s company, after all, long ago cast current starlet Kate Beckinsale as Hero in Much Ado.
