WBTV’s Jeff Atkinson absolutely nails the reality of the planned $470 million North line commuter rail line. The Huntersville town council will not rubber-stamp CATS’ numbers going forward.

And as we’ve noted, those CATS numbers are significantly out-of-whack with the North Meck towns own numbers with regard to the value of future development going forward.

Bonus Observation: Jeff’s $261 million number for the North line is Phase I only and does not include the $97 million in needed infrastructure spending around the stations. Phase II — which gets ridership up to the projected 4600 a day number — is an additional $112 million according to the 2030 plan. Hence I use $470 million as the total public cost of the North line.
