In the upteenth example of why government should not be in the housing business, the Winston-Salem City Council voted last night to eat a $1.7 million loan to Housing Authority of Winston-Salem (HAWS). Local developer, Forsyth County GOP chairman and 13th Congressional candidate Nathan Tabor is stepping in and offering the city $100,000 over appraised value for the property, which he intends to renovate.

In the upteenth example that government never learns, the “purchase price for the complex will go to HAWS, said Larry Woods, chief executive officer of the housing authority.”
