Winston-Salem Journal reports the City Council might finally sell two trolley style buses that have been —as the Journal puts it—“mothballed” for two years.

The city is showing the most interest in a bid from Triad ECO Adventures, which, with an offer of $10,100, was not the highest bidder. However, the city set as a condition of the sale that the buses they be used for tourism, and Triad ECO Tours plans to use them to compliment its downtown Segway tours.

The city bought the trolley buses in the early 2000s, but low ridership—along with the realization that it was paying a $23 per rider subsidy to keep them on the road drove the decision to —here’s that word again–mothball the buses.
