Just a few weeks after American Express chose (apparently without incentives) Greensboro for its news data center, a site selection study ranks Winston-Salem “as having the fourth-lowest annual cost — $11.5 million — for operating a data center among 45 metropolitan statistical areas.”

The study was due to be released today. I haven’t found it, but the Winston-Salem Journal said Charlotte ranked 10th, while there was no mention of Greensboro. Also note that while Winston and Charlotte were both ranked high, they each dropped in rank.
