Fireworks over the county’s plan for early voting site. Wake County Commissioner Tony Gurley, a Republican, says the commission may pull funding for the plan due to what he says is a  “clearly partisan” plan designed to favor Democrats.

Gurley said the board of commissioners offered a $1.7 million budget for early voting on the idea that all 15 sites would be open for 13 days. With four sites open longer, the rest will be shortened to 11.

“I think that’s discriminating against the majority of the citizens of this county to benefit a few,” he said. “I think we should reduce the funding.”
