Public Schools First NC sent a mass email to Wake County teachers under the pretense that this week is American Education Week. American Education Week is not a harmless celebration of public schools. The National Education Association (NEA), the nation’s largest teachers union, created American Education Week and uses it to advance the their agenda. In this way, Public Schools First NC’s email to Wake County teachers brazenly propagates union activities. The email even contains a link to the NEA website.
More importantly, Public Schools First NC’s “action alert” appears to open the door to other groups who wish to disseminate advocacy materials to teachers, volunteers, and parents.
Update: I have been told that school volunteers received a message that was similar, but not the same, as the one reproduced below. I have made changes to this blog post accordingly.
