The Wake County Public School System’s enrollment projection fell short by 2,700 students, according to the N&O.

I appreciated education reporter Keung Hui’s candor here:

School officials said both groups will review the data to see what they can learn and revise projections for the future. The school system said the same thing last year when enrollment fell short.

The truth is that the school system will never revise their projections. They will likely ask taxpayers to approve a school construction bond in 2009. Thus, bond proponents will want the school system to continue to produce outrageous enrollment projections to scare people into voting for the bond.
