The rumored walk-out by Latino CMS students on Monday already has CMS tied up in knots. The Ed Center has told school officials to prepare for walk-outs and principals have taken that to mean different things. Some are just telling staff to “be ready” while others are advising teachers that anyone who walks out will be suspended for three days. You can tell what comes next.

Absent a CMS-wide directive stating that anyone who walks out will be suspended actions by individual principals to suspend students are almost certain to be over-ruled by the Ed Center on fairness grounds. Hope to be proven wrong on this one, but we’ll soon see.
