About a week ago, somebody presented me with a list of recent incidences of corruption in high levels of law enforcement in Western North Carolina. On more than one occasion, local Ron Paulites have mentioned the need to cite city ordinances for officers attempting to arrest them, and some even took to carrying on their persons paper copies of ordinances they were likely to be arrested for not violating. This week, a commentary in the Asheville Tribune adds to the ongoing saga of “Who’s Life Is It, Anyway” thingamabob enforcement.
