Recall that this time last year — the first week after Christmas break for CMS — South Charlotte was hit by a wave of home invasions which targeted high-end residences. Made perfect sense — the homes were full of pricey new gadgets and the residents were virtually certain to be back at school or work.
Also remember that CMPD — aided and abetted by the Uptown paper of record — insisted that a purposeful crime wave was not underway, even though CMPD was searching for a specific set of perps in connection with several break-ins.
Sooo…should we be surprised that the city of Charlotte, CMPD, and the Uptown paper have not done anything to alert local residents to the strong possibility of a repeat crime wave kicking off tomorrow?
No, no we should not.
In any event, as trash pick-up cycles through the county this week, those of you who received PCs or flat-panels or game consoles from Santa should be sure to conceal the packaging you are throwing away. Also be on the look-out for strange vehicles in your neighborhood, especially vans or SUVs with multiple male occupants. And be sure to close and lock your garage even if you are just going out for a short time.
