Like loaves and fishes, Durham’s water supply just keeps replenishing without rainfall. Back in September, if you’ll recall, we were told by Mayor Bill Bell that we had only 68 days of water left.

Then, a few days later, we were told by City Manager Patrick Baker that we had 74 days left. Then, last week, we had 75 days left, according to the city’s water management Web site. And on Monday Baker announced that we had 144 days remaining if they pull out all the stops. All this with only three days of rain.

Now that’s water management.
