It is the old annexation thing, this time from once tiny Waxhaw. The Union County burb is looking to snag some 240 homes. As always, it is a straight-up revenue grab and those in the crosshairs do not like it. But there is little they can do about it.

It is funny, I remember when Charlotte Latin was the last thing you passed on Providence Road before you hit downtown Waxhaw. It was one of the runs you’d make to see if you’d gapped your plugs correctly or otherwise needed to blow some carbon out your motor. There was flat nothing.

The idea that all the development has not thrown off enough revenue for local governments to deliver basic services just does not pass the sniff test.
