And that I think is good news for Charlotte’s civic health — even if Molly and Bo didn’t have me on their show this morning to talk about the Meck Deck melange of topics. (Click here to listen.)

There just cannot be too many places to talk about state and local issues in this town. Case in point, before I was on Mayor Pat McCrory said he supported the changes that CMPD Chief Rodney Monroe made to get more officers on the streets. That is important to get on the record because McCrory had been a big booster of the International Relations Unit in CMPD. That unit was among the boutique outfits that Monroe dismantled last week. McCrory also said that Monroe did not come to him seeking approval of the changes, he just made them.

This tells the QC that CMPD might just have a leader on its hands. Let’s watch how the rest of the local power structure reacts.
