This is another of those instances where only an academic could say something so ridiculous. Famed economics professor Jeffrey Sachs recently made the claim that small government devotees have “asphyxiated the state.” Apparently it has escaped his notice that the size and scope of government has been growing apace during the Bush and Obama years. If the state is being asphyxiated, where are all the unemployed former bureaucrats?

James Dorn demolishes Sachs in this piece. The truth is that the state is asphyxiating the people with its wasteful spending, special interest programs, competition and innovation stifling regulations, and more.
