Late yesterday afternoon the Department of Public Instruction told school systems across the state to release individual test results to families. Could it be pressure from superintendents across the state? Today?s Observer article reveals the atmosphere at a meeting held in Charlotte yesterday with State Superintendent June Atkinson.
You have to appreciate the candor of Cabarrus County?s testing director, Sonny Pruette. He equated the state’s waffling leaving local officials feeling like a ?toad hopping on a hot road. ?We don’t have anywhere we can light where we’re not going to get burned.??
How convenient all the data is now released – it is too late to get the reports home to the families by Tuesday, Election Day. My reasoning for the charade remains.
I guess they could say, ?Well, we voted to unembargo the results after we voted to embargo the results.?
