  • Justice Thomas has received over $1 million in advances since 2003 from HarperCollins, publisher of his autobiography, My Grandfather’s Son

  • Justice Ginsberg appears to be the most affluent member of the court, with assets between $11 million and $50 million at year’s end

  • The two newest members of the court, Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, are less wealthy but by no means poverty-stricken (Roberts had assets valued between $2 million and more than $6 million, while Alito’s net worth is between more than $500,000 and $2 million)

  • Justice Kennedy is among the least wealthy members with assets of between $350,000 and $750,000
