Ask Democrats what impact cold and/or rainy weather will have on Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign and they’ll tell you it helps him.

Ask Republicans the same question and they’ll tell you it helps Sen. John McCain’s quest for the White House.

Here’s what AccuWeather.com has to say about the impact of today’s weather on the Southeast.

The only other region that will have wet weather is near the Southeast. According to the South Regional News story, a coastal storm will bring rain and gusty winds from eastern Georgia to southeastern Virginia. However, the key swing state, Florida, will have dry, nice weather.

History says that Tuesday’s forecast should favor Democratic candidate Barack Obama. A 2005 study published in the June 2007 edition of the Journal of Politics concluded that poor weather on Election Day favors the Republican party.

One of the co-authors of the study, University of Pittsburgh political science professor George Krause, tells AccuWeather.com that the growing trend of early voting could lessen the impact of weather on the first Tuesday of November.

In other words, it’s anybody’s guess.
