Buncombe County School Board member Lisa Baldwin has made herself quite unpopular for advocating in the best interest of kids in the school system. She’s made herself a misfit for not throwing money and hoping it lands in a brighter future.

In the latest missive, she told how the school system collected $141,132 in federal funds for free “summer feeding,” which sounds like something one would do for animals. As it turned out, the flocks found better food at a better cost elsewhere and spurned the taxpayer offerings. “Transportation and the newness of the program were cited as reasons.”
